If your Christmas was as good as mine we both did well! We will be be going
together with Pleasant Hill this year.
Below is the flyer we are using. As you can see it will be the first weekend in
April. You can get here on the second if you have anybody that can get off. If
you want to get here before April 2nd you can do that also but let me know.
We plan on having something here late Friday, April 3 and the main battle
Saturday morning on the fourth. Then something at Pleasant Hill Saturday
afternoon with their big battle on Sunday. By "something" I mean we will have a
battle with what we have here on Friday and with whatever makes it to Pleasant
Hill Saturday afternoon. We are still working out the details but it looks like
you will be able to set up camp at one place instead of two. We are working on
getting transportation between sites for the events.
Hope this helps and hope yall can make it.
Let me know if you need anything more specific.
Steve

RED RIVER CAMPAIGN
Battles of Mansfield
and
Pleasant Hill, Louisiana
Four battles on two original battlefields!
Mansfield, “the Bull Run of the West” and
Pleasant Hill, one of the largest, bloodiest
battles in the Trans Mississippi.
This event will be on April 3-4-5, 2009, and will have reenactments on each
actual battlefield, not a cow pasture “close by.” You will walk, camp and fight
where they did, on the same hallowed ground.
Mansfield - Friday, April 3, 2009
Saturday, April 4, 2009
Pleasant Hill - Saturday, April 4, 2009
Sunday, April 5, 2009
This will be an accurate historical recreation of the two major battles of April
1864. Following the battle of Mansfield the Federal Army will retreat 12 miles
to Pleasant Hill. Pursued by the victorious Confederates the fighting will
continue at Pleasant Hill.
Registration will be limited to full-scale cannons and 2,000 troops. Ten pounds
of powder will be issued to the first twenty cannons and water; hay, porta johns
and plenty of firewood will be furnished out of site of, but conveniently
located near camps. Camps will be at both locations. Campaign style is preferred
but tents are allowed.
A registration fee of $5.00 will be charged. On site registration will be at
Mansfield SHS beginning on April 2 but early arrivals are welcome with prior
permission.
